Most of my Hubs right now are reviews of cozy mystery novels. I do have other topics, as well, though. See below.
I never planned to confine myself to any one topic. I still don't.
But --- it so happens that I do read cozy mysteries a lot. I always have one in my purse, so that I can read it on the bus, or while waiting for the bus, or just when I'm looking for a little escape from stress.
****************
I'm a single mom of six wonderful, amazing adults, four of whom live close enough that I see them regularly. I also have five beautiful, wonderful, incredible grandkids. A new grandbaby coming along soon, as well.
(Not that I'm biased or anything!! LOL)
I grew up in a home where my mom and stepdad had four other kids. They kept reminding me how I didn't belong, and wasn't a "real" daughter. They told me they didn't have to support me, and I wasn't their responsibility. Nice people, huh?
My kids were all equal, because I am the mom of each of them.
My kids did live in "the projects" when they were growing up. They also lived with relatives at times. These relatives convinced me my sons and daughters would be "better off" away from me because I was poor, on welfare and living in the projects. My kids would be "better off" with middle class folks who owned property or had a big farm, etc. They said it was my duty to "make sacrifices" for the sake of my kids.
It turned out that these middle class folks were abusing my kids. Now, of course, I realize this was all my fault for believing what these folks told me about "making sacrifices" etc. But, I trusted these relatives.
Of course, I can never make this up to my sons and daughters now.
I'm also a crazy old bag lady. I've been homeless since the day before Thanksgiving of 2010.
I am a Catholic revert. Reverted means I was away from my Faith for several decades, but have now returned. I'm not homophobic, though. I'm only pointing that out because unfortunately, some non-Catholics think Catholics are homophobic.
Even more unfortunately, some Catholics ARE homophobic. They try to justify it by using religion.
I've been wanting to go to law school since 1956 --- when I was eight years old. I have not yet given up on that goal, even though I'm sixty three years old and don't even have a bachelor's degree yet. I still want to fight for justice in the world. Not looking for big salaries or prestige.
I'm sick of Big Pharma, and I'm also sick of bigots who discriminate against smokers. I don't smoke myself --- although I did smoke for twenty-three years.
I started smoking when I was eleven years old. That was back in 1959, the year the music died, for those of you who like to keep track. (I don't blame you. I keep track, too. I like to know the author's age when I read something ) I quit when I was thirty four years old, in 1982.
I'm still sick of bigotry against people who do smoke.
In my city, smoking is prohibited inside of any building, even if you work there. Workers have to step outside if they want a smoke break. But, even stepping outside isn't good enough anymore, because now there's an ordinance saying smokers have to be at least twenty-five feet from any entrance to the building.
It's kind of awful that they have to stand out there even in sub-freezing temperatures. But, on top of that, passersby sometimes are thoughtlessly rude. Some will point out that the cigarette butts are making the area "unsightly". Others say that it's such an ignominy to have to breathe the "secondhand smoke" that's wafting all over the city.
I'm not saying smokers shouldn't try to quit.
They should.
But, they just have to do it on their own, when they're ready. Nobody else can do it for them, or force them to be ready.
I'm also not encouraging anyone to start smoking.
Here's a question: Is there a connection between Big Pharma and anti-smoker bigotry? I think there might be. Why do I say that?
It's because of the tobacco settlements. Where did these companies go to make up for that loss? What other holdings do these corporations own?
It's only a theory right now. I'll have to do some research on it.
I'm also sick of anti-Catholic bigotry. But, even though I'm sick of anti-Catholic bigotry, I'm also sick of Catholics who think they're better, holier and/or more "reverent" than others.
I guess my main theme here is: --- I'm just sick of bigotry.
God bless to all good, kind, peaceful folks of good conscience and goodwill --- no matter what religion they practice or profess ---- including none at all.
I also have a learning disability, and a psych disability. I try to write and think clearly, though.

If you see a rude comment that I made about someone's Hub here on Hubpages, please know that I did apologize to that Hubber. I also asked her to please delete the rude comment. The last I checked, she had deleted the apology but left the rude comment intact.
I don't want to check anymore, because I don't want to contribue to her numbers. The Hub was about violent crime, and calling for the death penalty, and so forth and so on. Most tiresome. My rude comment said her Hub was a sensationalistic hack job, with no redeeming social value.
She and her troglodyte minions said I had no business reading a Hub "like this". They posted several comments ridiculing folks with psych disorders.

One very important thing, though:
I want all my hubs to be perfectly family-friendly and G-rated. But, I don't always know for sure what's on the sites I link to, even when I check thoroughly. The webmaster might have changed something.
If you see any links to something that is not family-friendly, please be sure to let me know.
